I am taking ours in tomorrow to have it pulled and sent out to be rebuilt. I do not trust it to work every time. As far as I know, that motor is no longer available. I would rather spend a couple hundred dollars to have motor rebuilt than spend a couple thousand to replace entire awning. Ours is the original "One Step". The awning is still in great shape.

Where are you sending it to be rebuilt? I have talked to a few shops here in the Houston area, and haven't had anyone interested in trying to rebuild it.

This is where they sent it. I was told if anyone could fix it, they could.

Globe Motors

It is in Dayton OH.

I am keeping my fingers crossed they can fix it.

If you would, let the forum members know how it works/total cost when you get it back.

Did you talk to anyone there yourself? I was told by them that they couldn't help. But that was just one person... If there is a POC that had more willingness, I'd love to touch base with them....

Just heard back from my repair shop that Globe was able to repair the motor and are sending it back. As soon as I get the info, I will repost name and address.

Thanks for the update. I admit to being a little guilty in the past for not furnishing updates for posters who have responded to my inquiries.

Globe Motors Inc.
2275 Stanley Avenue
Dayton, OH. 45404

They rebuilt the motor. After install, my shop ran it in and out a few times and it got slower. It was then determined that the "One Step" relay box was interfering with the connections. They disconnected all the relays and now the awning switch is the one inside the first bay door on the "One Step" box itself. Works like new now.

Is it an inconvenience that the switch is not on the inside anymore? A little.
Am I happy that I didn't have to spend $2500.00 for a new awning system? YES. LOL The "Awning" is basically a Sun Shade. It is not an umbrella. I will post what the cost was to rebuild the motor later as I do not have that in front of me.

Hope this helps others.

Seems like you could simply add a remote relay in proximity to the control box, use the existing power to the control box to power the relay and awning, and use the inside switch to actuate the relay--about $7 at Autozone....

I sent my motor off to Globe Motors in Dothan, AL. They checked it out within a day of receiving it. Assessment was that something was wrong inside it.... duh. They sent it to their corporate/head lab where they would do more diagnostics. She said they are more likely to have parts avail that may be able to repair since this is an obsolete motor. So, I hope to have a reply next week on the status.
