Bathroom Faucet 1998 Alpine MDSS

I would like to change the faucet handles in the coach (never liked them) but I can't see how to remove the old ones. They are 2 tone and "barrel" shaped.
There is a photo here:
http://www.lindacain.com/weblog/RVFaucet.jpg
I can't pry the top off and don't see any other way to remove them.
Thanks

That top part unscrews. You may need to use vice grip.

Do you mean the thin brass disk or the ribbed chrome part?
Thanks

That top thin disk. You hold the ribbed part.

Webstress - I have been thinking about changing my handles also. I have had the handles off to make them easier to turn but they soon get stiff again so I was considering a different handle that is easier to grip. I would be interested in what you find as a replacement if you don't change the entire valve assemblies. Thanks.

When I had my 2000, I had the same knobs and I changed them out to Crystal Handles. These are a good quality faucet. There is also a cartridge under the handle that can get wear out and get hard to turn on. I has been so long, since I changed them, I can't remember the brand. I know it wasn't Delta or Kohler. I was thinking it was Moen and not American Standard.

I replaced the faucet with a single handle style. Might have gotten a little carried away with the sink too.

kraig, do you have a photo of the handles? I've gotten so I can remove the old one, but I'm having a problem finding replacements.
BTW, the original set is a Moen.

Sorry I sold that coach and I had still have most replacement parts wrote down, but not that one. After I posted it I think replaced it with brass or Chrome handles. Besides the handles you need sleeve to cover the cartridge also.

Bathroom Faucet 1998 Alpine MDSS

We installed this faucet set. It is Moen also. Patty couldn't grip the round handles.Click image for larger version

The faucet looks great. I have seen it on the Moen web site and was tempted to buy it, but the effort (a lot of) in replacing the entire faucet and $100 + cost for the complete set is more than I would like to put into it. I was hoping for just being able to change the handles but that may not be possible.

Install a single handle one and use the left over holes for soap dispensers.

Thanks all.
I did find the replacement handles.
Since I didn't have the original installation instructions, I couldn't track down parts.

This past weekend at a rally a friend lent me his installation instructions, and I was able to use it to find the parts for the different handle configurations. (Thanks, Kurt)

They are, of course obsolete, and there are very few left, but with the information in the parts diagrams, a knowledgeable plumbing supplier should be able to supply something that fits.

I posted everything I found on the ACA Technical page under "House Systems."

an additional piece of information - we did get the replacements, Moen sent all the parts at no charge; but, I found in the parts sheet tat there are at least 4 options for the ridged part of the barrel handle, one of which is ridged vertically instead of horizontally, that would be much easier to grip and replace.
