Batteries not holding charge
We have a 2003 40 ft Alpine with an Amanda electric frigerator. How long should the batteries last for our type of coach? The battery life has deteriorated over the last 18 months we’ve owned it. They were new AGS Lifeline batteries. Now when we turn off the generator they last 4 minutes before frig turns off. New inverter last year put in. Not sure if there’s a fuse or something. Husband is driving into nearest town to buy a voltmeter to determine if they’re even charged up. Cleaned with baking soda mixture and all connections are tight.

Yes, let us know the voltage.
Do you not have a Xantrex remote panel that shows voltage and charging amps?

I'm guessing it's an Amana fridge, I don't think Amanda made any. How many batteries and what was their amp/hr rating when new? Just cleaning with baking soda and making sure connections are tight doesn't really ensure that the connections are good. They need to be taken off the battery, cleaned, and then refastened. Likewise, ground connections should be removed, cleaned, and refastened.

In general "typos" get a free pass here on the forum, along with most spelling errors. Bet you've had a few in 18,000 posts.
Too many possibilities at this point without more info.

Lifeline batteries shouldn't have much corrosion if any at all so we need to wait for some voltage testing of the batteries with and without the generator running.
The brand of the fridge, if its a house type, doesn't matter much.

Yup, let's wait for the OP to post some FACTS.
THEN we can help.

Husband says chassis batteries are reading correctly, house batteries have no voltage with the Generator on or off. We also had a new alternator in the last year.

I wasn't critical of a 'typo' I thought it might have been a humorous autocorrect miscorrection. I obviously knew she meant an Amana refrigerator.
Nice of RV Pioneer to jump on it as my bad.

Check both sides of the fuse labeled House Fuse for 12 volts.
Find the actual inverter and check for push button or lever type breaker right on it. It may be tripped.

I've said this many times, buy a battery load tester at HF. If you are going to have batteries in anything, you need some way to find out if they are any good. you need to disconnect negative terminal to test them to find out their true condition while under a load. For $30 you can test them yourself to find out if the problem is with your batteries.
