Battery compartment cables

2002 Western Alpine 40'

I have replaced all my batteries( house and chasis). But on replacing them I noticed one loose white wire. There is another white wire going to the negitive side of the chasis batteries. Any idea of what this thinner white wire goes to or what terminal it should be connected to?

That is why I take pics of the task I am doing before I start. Was this wire loose before you took the cables off? If so I would leave it off if everything is up and running. The only other thing would be to trace the loose wire and see where the other end is hooked up. Hooking negative to negative will not hurt, so you may can hook it up to the chasis negative also. Just be sure it is not a positive.

Can you post a photo of your battery compartment & cables and either point out the unhooked wire or give a description of where it is in the photo? That way, we can compare with ours and offer suggestions.

Your batteries may have looked a lot like this diagram off the ACA Tech Library site, which was current for a 2002 model year rig. Your white wire could have been original, or may have been added. The diagram has a "sensor" wire from house batt to inverter; mot sure if that's a regular copper wire of phone cord type for a 2002.
