H-E-L-P. I need someone who thinks farther out of the box than I do.

Our mattress wore out and we wanted to replace it. We have two bedroom slides, and the end of the bed extends under the drawers about 4 inches on the passenger side when the slides are brought in. We neglected to measure the space available (about 9 1/2 inches) that the mattress needed to fit into. We bought a mattress (non-returnable) that is 12 inches deep. Needless to say, it does not fit in the space. We have tried propping up the mattress so the slides could come all the way in, but the mattress either puts pressure on the slide, or it puts pressure on the drawers under the TV.

There is not enough room at the head to prop the mattress up. And, we don't want to remove the mattress and put it in the living room every time we travel. Fortunately, we are parked for another 10 weeks so we have that much time to come up with a solution. We have the mattress on Cragslist, but don't have much hope for selling it.

Any ideas on how to deal with the mattress so the slides close?

This might work, although a bit cumbersome.
What we have installed in ours. Mattress Genie Bed Lift
Better picture

I would have to try ours to see if if would raise the mattress enough. Let me know if you need me to check for you.

Gator- congratulations on wearing out the matress!! Keep up the good work

Dale- If that works, you're a genius. If it doesn't, you're still close.

Our TEMPUR-PEDIC mattress works well. We were lucky the 8" height fit as we were in a rush and didn't measure before hand. Oops!

That Mattress Wedge would even work in the center of the mattress to reduce the length and reduce/remove to pressure against the slides.

It's true, Dale's a genius to think of that.
