Black Holding Tank Sensors

Suddenly, I'm showing 5 red lights on the Board indicating my Black Tank is full. I've drained it and backflushed it and cannot get the Board back down to showing one light.Suggestions? FEP

There is a procedured outlined in the manual for resetting the lights. Or you could be like the rest of us and just learn about how long you can go before dumping. Sensors are really unreliable. You might also try filling really full the tank with water and a little Calgon, letting it sit for a while and dumping again. If there is something sticking that might do the trick.

When the tank is really empty, did you try popping off the "button" under the black tank indicator push switch, then turning the potentiometer down until "empty" is indicated? Then, you can fill the tank until it's full (takes a long time, look into the toilet to verify) and twitch the potentiometer to just light the full light. Completely drain and verify empty light again. I did this to mine after instruction from Warren at WRV and it seems to have worked just fine.

When I adjusted my tank indicator lights, I did both the grey water and the black water tanks by alternately running water into each for about 5 minutes, then switching to the other. I ran water until I could see it down the toilet and up into the shower floor.

I set my potentiometers to show full when the full light just began to flicker. Since we all know the sensors are not the most accurate, this gave us a little breathing room. I did this after we were running the washer and went out. When we returned the shower was full of water plus some of the outer floor.

Ted III, Good idea! Our coach has the tub w/shower, so I would have ~20-30 gallons to go before overflow. Also, when viewing down my toilet, I used a flashlight and stopped filling when I could just see the fluid level, figuring I had established some leeway on really-full.

We always add some ice cubes to our black water tank before we empty it and while we're still driving. The sloshing around loosens some of the debris and seems to keep the guages working better. If your tank is empty you can add water and then ice cubes for the same effect.
