Bose Solo anyone?

Has anyone looked at, listened to, installed one of the new Bose Solo units? I guess it could be hung under the tv cabinet. Interesting product, some of the reviews say it's taken the place of their surround system.

Now that looks interesting.

Once this storm moves out of here, I'll have to go down the Bose store at the mall and listen to it.

I listened to the Bose Solo at Costco last weekend and was very impressed...it has a 12 volt cigarette adapter plug and sounded like a nice surround sound system...for around $200.
Considering it for the tv sound system and the dvd/audio sound systems.

We have 2 Bose stores, one about 5 miles from me and one about 25 miles away.

I like the sound of most Bose speakers and systems.

However, the 'purists' despise them for various reasons. Their mantra is; 'No highs, no lows, it must be Bose'!

I'm a firm believer in buying what sounds good to you, not what someone else likes.

My GMC Yukon XL has a Bose 9 speaker system with a sub woofer (or is it 7) from the factory. I think it sounds great!

Bose Solo website quotes $400 for the unit and after reading the manual, I don't see anything about a 12 volt plug. So I think the unit seen at Costco may be a different Bose unit. No Bose store nearby so I guess I'll wait till I get back to OR. That will give me time to figure/design a platform to hang under the TV for the unit. If anyone has seen such a "hanging platform" let me know.

Not far from where I summer (Well half of it) is a Bose OUTLET store.

I listened to a Bose system there,, VERY Nice.. I also tried out a set of cans (Bose noise canceling headphones) They came home with me (You don't want to know the price)

Some time later I had computer issues and was forced to haul my mini-tower over to the family center for Internet.. I set it up in a lower level conference room which, one day, hosted a kid's birthday party.. I had a nice batch of music files on the drive (Still do) and was letting them play as I posted and read,,, When I packed up to "Go home" the parents apologized for the noise of the party... (It was loud, I mean I could hear it even with the headphones on) I looked at them, pointed to the headphones and said "What party" (I could hear it but at a level roughly equal to people talking quietly without the headphones, in short, no disturbance at all)

The headphones came with the optional cell connect kit.. Sadly it won't fit my current phone (YET) will fix that the end of the monty as the needed part is sittin in my mail box 800 miles away...They will ship me a "Care package" later this month fixing it. Which reminds me of something improtant.

I listened to the Bose Solo today and it does sound good.

The demo alternates between unaltered sound and the Bose sound. The difference is clear.

However, it can't take the place of a good surround system.

If space is a problem, it might work for you at $399.

However, for $150 I believe this is a much better option if you have the room. More base, more separation and they will play louder. I have 2 sets, one with the bedroom TV and one with my computer, the best sounding set of small speakers I've ever heard.
