Brake Caliper problrms
I have a 99 Alpine 36 ft. I know everyone has had some type of brake problems. I Think I have caliper problems, the repair shop cannot locaate any part numbers. Does anyone know the part numbers???? Thanks, old trucker

Are they pin slide or rail slide? '99 was a transition year so you could have either. If they are original Bendix the calipers will have a casting number on them. This is not the part number and will have to be cross referenced. For example casting numbers 4150844, 4152279 refer to part 55250. These are the 2.88" rail slide calipers I have on my coach.

Trucker, I have Bendix on my coach, research and an invoice gave me this information. No help at all if you have Bosch.
Bendix part numbers for fully loaded calipers are L55250LM (left side both front and rear) and L55250RM (right side both front and rear). All 4 rotors are Gunite D6176M (replaces D6176)
NAPA part # SE8551 is a remanufactured Bendix 55250.
ABS Sensor part # is 0632-51-97.

Bendix Calipers
I also have a 1999 36’mid door Alpine and replaced my Bendix 2.88” Twin piston disc brake calipers with like in- kind. These are the second design part # FMSI 7142-D225. The calipers are found on pages 3-14 & 3-15 of the Bendix manual, customer serv. 1-888-725-9355. OR in the Meritor School Bus catalog PB – 20119, page 68 &69, OR UCX.com, 225 caliper #10-1130S. tel:216-531-7004x15,(very helpful.) The rotors were $184.12 ea & calipers $108.79 ea in April 2010. It is noted that the calipers w/.070 clearance wedges need to be greased with Molybdenum Disulfide (moly-paste) lubricant.

Alpine Brake problems: Thanks to John Knight Dave Shan and Dave & Coleen, I now have found the replacement calipers, rotors, pads and master cylinder for a 99 Alpine. I have all the up to date part numbers. Parts are readily available through NAPA and International Truck dealers. The brake system is the same as used on International school buses. Total parts cost (plus labor) $1030. plus $250 for Master cylinder. If you have need of this info, contact me, old trucker.
