The inner bleed screw on the rear brake calipers CAN be accessed without removing the wheels (not theory-- I have done it in the last couple of weeks).

2005 Alpine Coach 36" FDSS
Bosch or Meritor Brakes. Algoma posted a link to a manual for Meritor brakes and it sure looks like the caliper I have. Doug at Driveline said that Bosch & Meritor put their names on each others parts so he can't be sure either.The basic question is: Are they Bosch or Meritor calipers?? I think Algoma is correct -- they are Meritor. Does anyone else know for sure? Mike at Redland said he does not know and that he would have to see the caliper.

It should not matter if they are Bosch or Meritor Calipers if you go by the casting number a good Truck Parts House can identify the replacement part.

They are Meritor 4-piston on 05 Alpines; Alboma's link above is correct. Part#'s:
ES2090L R230072
ES2091R R230073
Each axle takes one of each, the rear axle is a rotated version of front as each caliper has an orientation vs the wheel end bolt-on plate.
Calipers where sold as a Ford part w/the above #'s IIRC, and are still available at last count; millions of Ford chassis' were sold w/these.
Check the ACA Tech Library (online near you) for caliper docs. There is a description of caliper heat diagnostic (visual test), its based on cracks. If a radial heat crack runs out to the edge (IIRC this is the test), then caliper should be replaced; if it doesn't go to the edge then its good to reuse.

Sounds like the tension pin has not been greased allowing the pad to not return off of the disc. These pins often get overlooked during a brake job

No slides to lube on the 4 piston calipers-- the caliper is fixed.

Just to clarify--the outer calipers on both the front and rear axles are for all practical puposes--inaccessable. With some patience, the fronts can probably be done if you align the slots/holes in the wheel to get at the bleed screws--the rear outer calipers are not accessable. If a shop tells you they have done a complete flush without having removed the rear wheels as a minimum--you didnt get a full flush.
