CB Radio Antenna Cable

Hello Again Everyone, Well we're down here at the River Bend RV Resort near Ft. Meyers, Fl. and today I thought that it would be a good idea to finally install a CB Radio in my coach. So I drove down to Camping World, picked one up and came back to start installing it.
Per the 2006 Apline Owners Manual, (on page 32) it states that the antenna connection and power source for the CB (two black wires & one white) are located on the driver's side directly under the ignition switch.

Well, I think all of you know where this is going.

I've been all over and under the front of this coach and can't find the antenna cable or the power source. Put I do have two antennas on the roof of my coach and the radio works just fine, so I'm asuming that the other antenna is for the CB. I just can't find the other end of it.

Anyone else run into this problem?

Thanks in advance for any feed back.
Roger

Hi Roger,
I do not know an Alpine coach. However, I do know CB radio. If the antennas on the roof look identical to each other, chances are they are both for audio input only (radio, stereo sound system, etc.) Maybe your coach did not come pre-wired for a CB radio?

Before we discuss your antenna choices, let's wait for some Alpine owners to post their views. While waiting, you can go to Firestik Antenna Company Home Page and view antenna choices. Look only at the no ground plane antenna kits.

Hi ROGER

If your coach has a door on the top of the dash that opens. look there. I have an allegro bay and that's where I found mine. It has an opening right over the instrument panel which is covered by a panel held down by heavy duty velcro.

Roger,

When I had my CB installed they found the antenna wires hanging down behind the center pullout console.

Roger,

On my '07 I saw it to the right and just forward of the accelerator pedal. It takes some searching to find it in the mass of wires.

Roger,
On mine it was about 15 feet of wire;wrapped up in black electrical tape in a wad about 18" by 2" in diameter, jammed in over top of the vent hoses where they enter the firewall. I had to remove the dash panel to find and then pull them out the few inches of slack to unwind the "miles" of tape. Then I had plenty of wire to locate the CB wherever I wanted. There have been posts in the past on this subject; the jist of which suggest to keep looking. It will be black coax with a normal CB screw on connector.

Mine was like zinom's. A wad of wire over the accelerator pedal. The antenna that came with ours in not a zero ground plane antenna, and no matter how much we tweak the factory antenna (gradually cutting it down to get the best output), it's still very weak and doesn't have much signal distance. I plan on replacing ours with a zero ground plane antenna.

Hey OldForester; Let us know how a replacement works for you when you do it.
Thanks, Matt

Thanks for all the input everyone, but I'm still looking for it. I only have one more cover to pull off. I'll keep you posted if I fine it.

I FOUND IT!!!! It was raining today down here at River Bend Coach Resort, so I took the time to pull the front panel and found the cable for the CB Antenna along with the one black and two white wires. They were all on top of the air duct that you would never see by laying on the floor looking up.
The CB is installed and working.
Again, thanks for all your imput
Roger

Roger, A couple of those other wires (if real skinny with a funny connector on the end) are for an XM Radio. I couldn't find my CB either; looking up from the bottom. Glad you found it, Matt
