Cracked power steering boot/seal

Tonight I noticed the rubber boot/seal on the top of the power steering unit, where the steering column enters, is cracked. It looks like it would be simple to replace. Has anyone ever replaced or repaired this item before?

If all goes well I'll never have to open this unit, but if I did, I'd do it slowly w/great caution. I don't know if it holds pressure, but it is rated to receive something like 2500 psi while operating. If that doesn't bleed off, you would be releasing that pressure.
