Cruise control

Does the Alpine Coach have a light someplace that says the cruise control is on? I've tried to see everything on the dash cluster and don't see a cruise light. Maybe the steering wheel?

I don't know about an '03, but my '04 has a light to show when the cruise control is turned on. It is a yellow light in the cluster of warning lights on the dashboard, such as the jacks down, overheating, etc. Maybe that was an addition for '04.

And the APEX's have the Silverleaf display and there is a light with a big C in it, and if it's solid, then you are in cruise. Nice Feature.

Does the light mean that you have turned the cruise control from OFF to ON or does it mean you have SET the cruise speed? Personally I don't have much of a problem telling if the computer is controlling my speed or my right foot is doing that. On my coach cruise will not activate below 35mph.

As you can see--options/features differ from year to year on Alpines. You need to add the year and model info for your coach to you sig block--it will help the "gearheads" help you....

On my Workhorse the indicator looks like a meter face (Round circlie with gradient lines and a pointer in from the center to the circle).

It is possible the indicator is non-operational.

The light means the system is turned on. Not that the speed is set and being controlled.

On the 05+ rigs the message window indicates that cruise is controlling speed, there is no On indicator, just the In Charge notification.
For those with the non-Apex Silverleaf/backup-monitor, there is an additional feature. A small icon indicates torque converter lockup. Sort of looks like two clutch plates separated (not locked) or together (locked).

I guess I can see the point of that if you have a push-on push-off button (like my car has) but I have a slide switch which has on and off clearly marked. I usually leave it in the on position and use the brake pedal as my off switch.

Well I don't have that either. I can usually judge when it goes into lockup by watching the rev counter and speedo, which is just over 55mph on a flat road.

The ISL will engage full lockup usually in 2nd gear iirc, guessing about 20mph and except for gear changes, continue lockup thru increasing gear selection & speed.

I suspect you mean the transmission, not the engine. I believe you have the 3000MH whereas I have the MD3060 so there will be some differences, but you are correct that the transmission will go into lockup in 2nd and above. I do notice that it will drop in and out of lockup around 55mph depending on road conditions.
