Cruise control not shutting off

2004 38 FDTS

Cruise control not shutting off when the brakes are pressed. Any clues ?

Bad switch. Most use the brake light switch, some have a separate cruise control disengage switch.

….my "vote" is for the brake switch....you have a 2004 so I "assume" you have adjustable pedals….believe brake switch is under dash on the brake pedal arm assembly.....may just need alignment.....checking to see if brake lights work is a good place to start....

We had that problem--during troubleshooting for another problem a service tech had moved the fuse (behind dash panel in front of passenger seat) to an empty fuse spot. Several months later we figured that out and replaced the fuse to its proper location. Tapping the brakes is so much easier than remembering to cancel cruise. :-]
