While in crusie control mode on my 2008 Alpine FDQS 40' the only way you can turn off cruise is to push the button on wheel. Pushing on brake will not release it. Does anyone have an idea what to look for? It worked OK before.

You might also try resetting the Vansco system.

I know that most Cruise control units work through the brake light switch. If the switch is not working the cruise control will not receive the signal to disengage. This happened on my 2001 Alpine but I am not sure it is the same on the newer Alpines with a Vansco System.

I also have problems with my cruse control. The Smart Wheel control box under the driver side dash is the problem. The unit receives a different signal from the steering wheel and the break peddle and other sensors to generate and send unique signals to the engine for cruse control, for high/low headlights, for horn and windshield wipers to control each of those devices. The company, Vehicle Improvement Products has good PDF documentation on their Web site.

I had the same problem. It was the contact point with the brake switch (a standard Ford part).

Easy way to check is to see if your brake lights are working. If not, remove the brake switch and depress the button to see if the brake lights work. If not, change the brake switch. If so, your brake lever isn't making contact with the brake switch.
