Hi Guys,
Remember me, a newbie, both to RVing and Alpines! I have a 1999 FDS and just returned from a short camping trip. Everything went fine except that the dash A/C stopped working when I started up to come home. Worked on the way out but dead as a doornail now- no A/C, no fan, no defrost, etc. I suspected a fuse and checked the fuse panel in front of the buddy seat (clear plastic loop pull), and the A/C fuse looks fine. Any ideas, guys?!
Thanks in advance for the fine help this forum provides. I only hope I can learn enough to return the favor(s) someday!

John,

Know what you mean. Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt I found that when this happened, I found that if I turned off the ignition and tried again it would work. I would have the dash fan on low, if it started blowing all was well, if not, tried it until it did work. Sometimes took two or three tries. Replaced the batteries two years ago and haven't had the problem since. (knock on wood!!) BTW, it also effected the windshield wipers too.

I had a '99 and had problems with the accessory relay which is located behind the panel under the dash and in front of the passenger seat. The relay was intermittant but anything, including the dash air, wipers, steps, etc., would not work. I finally purchased a continuous duty relay and replaced it. No more problems. This can be easily tested with a voltmeter.

Another possibility is the dash air vacuumn pump. You will hear a vibrating sound if it is working and it shuts off when sufficient vacuumn is built up. This pump is located outside on the firewall behind the gen slide.
