Dash panel lights and Transmission selector pad light does not work.
So we are getting to the end of going through our new Alpine in hopes of taking it to Redding for the weekend for a short shakedown trip. The dash panel lights and the trans selector light on the left of the Driver seat does not light up when the headlights are turned on. When I adjust the dash light dimmer switch nothing happens and when it is adjusted all the way to the "on" switch at the top the spot lights above the dash do come on. It doesn't seem to be a fuse issue. Any Ideas?

Some dash components come with LEDs (e.g. Actia gauges for the 05+ rigs). If that is the main lighting source for the dash, the dimer is not a standard rheostat, it's a pulse width modulator for dimming LEDs. You can't connect standard resistance filament bulbs to a PM modulator, or so I'm told.
Whether true or not, my rig came with out certain dash components wired to the dimmer.

This is a '99 coach so I don't think it has LED lights. That dimmer switch has 2 separate functions. When turned all the way up it operates a switch that turns the overhead lights on. This is separate from the rheostat that dims the instrument lights. You really need to remove the rheostat and check if it has power to it and if so check for continuity. I can't remember if there is a separate fuse for the panel lights but if you have no power to the rheostat check the fuse in the area behind the panel in front of the passenger seat.

I can't help you on the dash lights, but I have never had lights in my Allison shift panel......unless, I put the transmission in the economy mode. Then I have lights on the shift panel. It has always been this way.

It may seem crazy but on or 2005 Alpine we have to turn on the AM/FM radio in order to get the dash and shift control lights to come on. Don't ask me why they thought that was a good idea. Your's may not do it but try it.

Just an update
Thanks for all of the help. Turned out to be a fuse my husband thought he had checked but apparently missed. Now we just need to replace the bulb in the speedometer.
