I have a 2005, 36 foot front door Alpine coach with a Cummings ISL 400 engine. I am trying to install a Silver Leaf VMS PC system and I am have trouble getting it to communicate with the coach. Silver Leaf has been helpful and I have followed their instructions to the letter but it is still not communicating. Does anyone out there know what the two toggle switches on either side of the data port under the dash do or at least know how they are to be set for the system to communicate. I have checked the coach manual with no mention of the port or switches. And I have searched the forum and see were several people already have these systems, but no one has mentioned the switches. Silver Leaf can only know so much about how each one of the many manufactures out there do there wiring. Any help would be appreciated.

The VMSpc works with those toggles in either position.

I originally had problems with the original connection. IIRC I was finally able to get them to talk by changing the order of program launch and cable connection. Sorry I can't remember which way. I may have posted it though.

While your waiting for the Alpine experts to come to your aid I will toss a few things out there.

Will have to check in the morning but I am sure there is a flashing LED on my silverleaf box. So make sure it is blinking. If not maybe you have a fuse blown somewhere in data line.

Click on the Advanced tab and make sure you have the proper engine selected.

Click on the advance tab and select communications. You might try a different port but first move the USB cord to a different input. Sometimes you might get a USB connection that does not work good in certain cases.

Each time you change something, port or input connection, press the "restart port" button on the comm tab.

Make sure you have the proper drivers installed!!!!

All I can think of right now.

Make sure engine is running during checks

If you also have a data port in the engine compartment try connecting to it.

The person with probably the most knowledge about the Silverleaf and HWH on WRV is Joe Elwell jjelwell@msn.com 503 551 9799. He worked with WRV on design and repair of problems on both systems. He also understands how they work together. I have had him repair my coach several times and he always fixed it no problem.

Greystroke's comment stirred a memory. I had to restart my data port as well as follow the exact sequence of the installation instructions. Silver Leaf also had to send me another copy of the ISL engine file.
