Has anyone replaced their day/night shades with some other kind of shade? Our motor home is only a little over a year old. Buddy has already done some work on the one over the couch. The big one in the bedroom has part of the shade torn, but it still works okay. Now this morning I was opening the big one by the recliner, and one of the strings shredded.

The irony of this is that I won't even let Buddy pull them up and down. I do it myself, making sure I place my hands at intervals of thirds across the shades. And this still has happened!

If they are not going to last over a year, I would like to replace them with something else. Has anyone done this?

There is a good discussion of day/night shades on this forum at Day/Night Shade Discussion. A lot of problems seem to be caused by there being too much tension on the strings. I did research on alternatives and some folks recommended going to Lowe's and Home Depot. We did, and found a few possibilities but since my repairs have worked so far, we stayed with the ones we have. We did find some pull-string shades that looked like good possibilities for the future.

Bud & Beverly, as in your case I never touch the blinds. I had an incident with one of our other motorhomes and Carol never forgave me.(wasn't my fault) Anyway we have yet to have a problem but I have listed a site which you may well already know. "The Dirty Blind Man" Kind of catchy I think. http://www.dirtyblindman.com. I know nothing about them except that is their business. Maybe they could help. They have quite a site on the net.
