Angry Direct TV

Direct TV channel 341 is message that the current receiver will be obsolete. Model DRD480RE. with a data port. Called direct TV and explained to the representative that I need a receiver with a slow speed data port. Tech says no problem one is in the mail. Very good but the new one doesn't have the data port. Since moto sat has gone kaput and now Direct TV is making my receiver obsolete don't know what to do. Anyone familiar with this. Or am I going to have a whole new TV setup? Don't want to spend the big bucks for a new setup now. but guess nothing is forever!

Sorry can't help with the data port BUT this past spring when one of receivers was replaced, they did not want the old one back. We were told it was obsolete. I guess things are changing.

I have the Sharp TV and had to replace the DTV receiver with a HD24. It has a HDMI output which I connected to the TV.

Hi Doug,
RF Mogul is servicing the Motosat antennas. (Royal Lamb 801 895-3392) They sent a module to install the latest software version (40.9) for my Nomad II box. I still have an old 2001 RCA Directv receiver and it seems to work. When I was in Montana last summer, I couldn't get local channels and was told by Directv
that I needed a HD antenna and upgraded receiver because the local channels are broadcasted on another satellite. I just bought a HD Motosat and I'm trying to figure out which is best Directv or Dish.

Hi Doug,

I don't know which Motosat you have, Executive or HD? I still have two RCA receivers run both at the same time in my motorhome and they work fine. I had the Executive for 10 years with very few problems. When I got my 2007 I put in the Motosat HD and had nothing but problems. I had different people work on it and would never work right. It would try to find a satellite looking at trees. It would have clear view and still could not find a satellite. Got tired of having to set up a portable dish.

Finally got it tired of it and spending money on it. Replaced it with a Wineguard Traveler and works great and much faster with my 2 old RCA receivers and can upgrade to HD without any changes.

Your only choice is the one the HD Motosat dish LNB's are for.
It doesn't work on both.
