We have the dirt devil central vac in our 2004 Alpine which alone does not do a good job on the carpet. Had a slightly used Oreck XL at home, I removed the upright bag and handle and then attached the power head to the dirt devil rigid plastic hose (which fits perfectly into the power head opening and O ring). Now we have a power brush (must be plugged into 110v outlet) and double the vacuum power for carpet and then use just the dirt devil for other cleaning. The power head is easy to remove and does not take much storage space.

Our Dirt Devil came with a "Rug Rat" attachment. The brushes turn with suction. It works pretty well.

Just to let everyone know the Magnum was bought out by Dirt Devil. So they are one in the same now.

Just curious, we like the concept, but it just isn't quite doing it's job.

Ours sucks, too. And by that I mean it doesn't suck! When I went to a local vacuum cleaner store I found out that there was no replacement other than a residential unit, which even the smallest was way too large.

Central vac? We have it in the s&bs and love it. The DW even let's me use it once in awhile. But in an RV? Great concept. Poor execution. We abandoned the concept.
