Dish Pay As Go?

I have had Direct TV forever, with distant feeds. I see Feb 5 they have another price increase. I am not happy to be paying $93 month for what little I get in programming, no DVR or HD. I am going to call customer retention at Direct TV and see what they can do?

I know to go to Dish Pay as Go I would have spend three hundred dollars to change over automatic Wineguard and a Dish receiver. It supposed to be $44 month.

The main reason I am looking at this is all streaming options over the internet for home TV, including Roku, Netflix, Hulu, amazon prime. Sling is staring now for $20 a month . None of these you have sign contracts with. As long as you have over the air antenna, I would save money.

As for RV,s I think our only choice Direct TV or Dish. Has anyone used Dish pay as go and what about customer service or other problems?

I've been using Dish pay as you go for about 6 months and don't have any major complaints. I'm paying about $75/month for HD plus a few extra sports channels. Their customer service has been fairly responsive when I've called. The hold time has usually been very brief before I get a live person.

One advantage of having a Dish account at the S&B is that you can add and RV account for about $5-7 per month, and turn it on, and off as needed with no $ penalty. We usually turn the RV Dish on in Apr, and off sometime in Oct, at $5 per month no big deal leaving it on all summer even when we're not using it.

I have had dish pay as you go for about a year, my only complaint is when you move you must call customer service and give them the zip at the new location. It normally takes 2 calls to get it right. Each call takes 10 - 15 minutes, the agents are just not used to working with a moving location, admittedly I am also getting better at telling them what they need

Used it for over two years. Just get the correct service number or you'll talk to someone that doesn't have a clue about the program much less what an RV is.

I've never had to call dish when we change locations to give them our new zip code, and we've been from Ohio to Mass. I just go into the set-up programs in the receiver with the remote and change the zip code myself, and everything works.

Yes it works, but do you get the local channels? If not, what feeds do you get on the Majors (ABC, NBC, CBS & FOX)? I have always changed my service address.

I did what you are thinking about. I had Dish for 1 year and then switched back. Yes, it was cheaper but I never liked their setup or programming and I found it twice as hard to get connected at the campgrounds. I now have the traveler and genie with DNS service. I really liked the pay as you go, but the rest of it made it not worth it to me.

If you want the local channels (think broadcast) you must call Dish. I know I went from Mass to Alaska and back this summer and from Mass to Alabama and New Orleans this winter.

I never worried about changing my local channel feeds, OTA locals were always more then enough.

Last night we were in Gulf Shores, AL today we are just outside New Orleans. We have all the channels we had last night, including the Mobile/Pensacola locals. Tomorrow I will call and switch to New Orleans locals, but tonight NOTHING messes with the super bowl!

For $15 a month I get the network channels out of New York, or L.A. Thru DirectV.

Agreed, DISH for me is nice, but having to call CSV every time I move to a different local channel 'region' can be aggravating, especially when you have to hold for 10 minutes, and the person helping you has not handled these type of requests very often. I've had some be able to just enter the new zip code with no problem. Another said that they must have my new 'address', my mother's maiden name, and a secret 'decoder' password!!
With that being said, I actually went another route with DISH, and am only paying about $50 per month for '120 channel' package. I called DISH several months ago to set up service on my 2014 Palazzo 33.3, which has no roof satellite antenna. I requested a standard 'HD' dish, with a mobile tripod setup, and three tv receivers.
DISH's independent contractor was there within 2 days, set up all 3 tvs and receivers, and set up the dish and tripod. All equipment at NO COST, and only a nominal $50 setup fee.
I'm able to store my dish/tripod/cables within my main storage bay.
My only time consuming part of the job is, of course, zoning in the dish to the correct direction and angles, though you get the hang of this the more often you do it.
