I have a 2003 34 fdds and my ice maker has only produced ice once when I was plugged into shore power and had the water connected to city water. We typically dry camp so we don't connect to city water all that often. Is this necessary for the ice maker to work or is something broken?

On my last Alpine the Dometic needed 110 for the mechanism that ejects the ice to work. I rewired it to work on the inverter. The down side of doing that is you need to manually select gas when dry camping because it sees 110 and defaults to it. This will run your batteries down quickly. The Ice maker works just fine on gas as long as it has 110 to operate the eject mechanism.

On my 2002, the ice maker and the fridge were on different power cords. I rewired the outlet behind the dinette to run off of the inverter. I then ran an extension cord thru the wall from that outlet to the back of the fridge and plugged in only the ice maker. When traveling I turned off the ice maker so that it would not start a new batch of ice while moving down the road.

thanks for the reply. I rewired my ice maker to an inverter circuit and it works great now.
