Drag-Link end joints--Revisited

After a couple weeks of research and one "ill-fated" buy and return effort on Ebay, here is what I learned about trying to replace the rubber grease cups on my 2003 steering drag link:
1) while these cups may exist, most tie-rod [drag-link] sources wont sell them separate--claiming joints are damaged too if cups are bad?????

2) If you do decide to replace the ends--the best part #s appear to be: Volvo 1698846 and 1698847 [right and left hand threads]. Or Meritor E10163 and E10164. Perhaps $135 each retail.....

Upon examination, my joints appear to be fine--caught it early and love to grease stuff [not]. Anyway, as mentioned in previous post, I went back to my DIY solution [1" heat hose insert on the stud then covered with rubber strips and a hose clamp]--yes, realize there are better materials available for this purpose but sometimes, "good enough" is good enough......

Per your request--here are a couple of pics......kind of ugly but hopefully effective--keep the good stuff in [grease] and the bad stuff out [dirt and water]....
