When returning home, on local road near my house the engine went to idle and the light went on the dash, round gear with a exclamation mark in the center.. then shortly, it went away and all was ok. took the rig to Istate and after checking said it was probably the accelerator pedal sending the correct voltage to the ECM. That there is a variable resistance changing voltage and that it can get a bad spot on it and cause the ECM not to function right. Didn't change it as it only happened once. They are trying to find a replacement in case it continues to happen again. Does this sound right and where is this located, under the accelerator pedal or in the generator compartment or ?.

The accelerator pedal has this electrical schmaltz built in.
Did the shop record a trouble code? What was it (the actual code number) and what does it translate to in English?
I'm assuming they scanned the engine's computer using Cummins Insite software; if not what did they do for diagnostic?

yes they scanned both the engine and transmission.. said it was the accelerator pedal that caused it and that there is a variable resistance created by the foot pedal and that part may be getting worn at some spot on it and if it continues to happen will need to replace it. he said he would look up the part and email me the results. thanks Mike, Mel

I assume you have ISL 425? Three years ago mine went to idle three different times and then would run fine. Cummins pulled the code and traced the problem back to the
Kongsburg pedal Mike is talking about. At that time there was only one distributor for all the US with none in stock. I did contact the pedal application manager at Kongsburg, that supplied the pedals to WRV. There were no pedals available in the US and it would be 6-8 weeks to get one made. This did not make me feel real good driving my Alpine with no accelerator available. I tossed that pedal as far as I could. In my opinion I would't drive it until you fixed it on way or the other.

Williams Controls, Tigard, OR does make accelerator pedals that are widely used in trucks that is easily installed in our rv. I talked to the Williams pedal specialist who figured out the right parts. Williams controls was installed by WRV in 2000 Alpine that was a different pedal, and I had that 10 years with no problem. On my 2007 I had to remove the adjustable pedal and bolt the new pedal to the floor. Did have to get a special drill bit to drill the tile in the floor. I have been running it for 3 years no problem.

The distributor in Portland OR is Brake Systems Inc and they had it right parts on the shelf. Phone 503 236 2116.

These parts should be readily available in the US, this seemed me to be a better way to go.

Thanks, It did start up again after I believe I pumped the pedal a few times. thankfully I was just on a side street a block from home so I could pull over if necessary and there was no other vehicles on the road.. I have eng. Mikes CD also. thanks for all your help. will check it out. Mel

Kongsberg referred me to GL Power who supplies the Throttle Pedal and sensor. Sensor is not replaceable by its self, so Pedal and sensor needs to be ordered.
I received information regarding the price and availability. Unfortunately the sensor is not a separate part that can be purchased and the pedal unit needs to be purchased and replaced. Below is the info to get them. Nathan was very helpful. You need to get the number off of the sensor on the side of the throttle pedal. Mel

Looks like to me they are charging a lot of money to get an adjustable pedal. Glad I went the truck pedal route an paid a total of about $300 for parts.

You may be right Kraig but thankfully I bought an extended warranty when I got the rig new from Uhlmanns and it has paid off many times over since I have had it. Otherwise I probably would have gone your route. Mel

Did not replace the throttle pedal as of now as have driven 200 miles with no failure and will wait for another failure. Cummins tech has cancelled all failures in the memory so will see.
