Engine winter storage question

Just read an article in a RV magazine reader forum. Says that Cummins recommends that for engines shut down for more than 30 days "the wire that actuates the fuel shutoff solenoid should be temporarily disconnected and the engine cranked until you see the oil pressure on the guage and this may take 20 seconds of cranking because oil leaks down in storage".

Curious on what others may think on this suggestion?

could only apply to older, mechanical engines, not ISL or ISC, the ISx engines don't have a fuel shut off solenoid
