Expecting new 2006 on April 25th!

I must admit we went into this with the strong inclination to custom order our unit already. We just tend to do things that way and we weren't ready to take delivery until Spring of this year.

We knew exactly what we wanted, and we wanted a couple of special things added to the unit if possible. That's also what helped us decide to customer order. We didn't really want to go far to pick up our coach and we didn't need the coach until this month, so custom ordering it seemed like a good idea. Another thing is that the floor plan changed slightly in the last 36ft 2005 FDDS units built - the bedroom slide on all 36s matches the MDTS now - a much improved bedroom layout which we wanted.

This floorplan change wouldn't be an issue for you on the 36 FDTS.

Right now the prices on the 2005s should be very good as dealers are clearing them off. The MSRP on the 2006 is $20K higher than the 2005 which is rather shocking! Because we placed our request for quote in December, we were able to order off the 2005 price list plus an additional cost for our custom options.

Yes, we did have a contact at the factory and they helped us tremendously. We also made a factory visit. I suggest you call the factory and find out who the factory rep is for Southern California and then have a candid chat with him about what you are looking for and what the 2006 might offer you. The factory reps are great.

Thanks for the lists specific to the Alpine Coach - it is very helpful. We are compiling all this stuff.

We have also collected a few generic PDI lists available on various forums that have been compiled by various helpful folks. Will use these as we go through the walk through.

We like to be well prepared. We don't like surprises - we realize there are going to be some no matter what.

Got a sweet new Jeep Liberty this week - also factory ordered (grumble - TX has poor inventory of 4x4 jeeps with anti-lock brakes and side air bags - grrrr). Working on the tow bracket and wiring this weekend.

Audrey, thanks for the Top 10 Words link. After reading all 14 pages, I added the following to my list:
- has fresh H2O system been sanitized & how?
- pull all dipsticks, check tire pressures
- is fresh H2O tank overflow anti-siphoned?
- what are the NAPA part #s for belts?
- how long has paint cured?
- bring thermometer to check fridge & roof/dash AC's
- get 12V & 110V schematics
- what's in the tire warranty; where is service available
- where are step, storage light, dash fan, storage lock, running light controls & what do they do?
- look for places to put extra keys
- check that sewer valves are closed (was that edifying or horrifying?)

Well the coach left Yakima yesterday afternoon! They probably got caught in that bad storm over the rockies. We'll see when it gets here.

Coach arrived at dealers on Friday afternoon. Took 3 whole days in transit (2600 miles). They did indeed drive through some snow in Idaho/Wyoming. The salesmen at the dealers says the new paint job looks awesome. I guess they think it will help sell more coaches $$$.

Right now we plan on going up to do the PDI Monday afternoon if they are ready for us.

Audrey, Did we tell you to turn on all the burners on the cook top to make sure the flame is adjusted. They can't do that at WRV until the propane is charged. Simple to do for the dealer.
