Extended Service Plans

Just bought a 2011 Alpine 3640RL and would like to purchase an extended warranty. Good Sam seems reasonably priced. Have read mixed reviews on their plan and others too. Would appreciate others' experiences and input.

I took over the XtraRide policy the PO of our coach bought, they paid for a replacement exhaust manifold with no questions asked about 4 months after we bought the coach. Heard lots of good things about them on the forums.

Oh my gosh - two Lynn(e) Marie's on here!!! Too funny! I have an 04 MDDS and home base in Washington State. Hang on for the ride with your Alpine! They are really fun when things don't break!

Is this a TT or 5th wheel?

Oh my, I guess I wasn't paying attention. Up too late I guess. You are right, this must be a TT or 5th wheel since WRV went out of business long before 2011! My bad! Oh well, enjoy your RV!

Do a search on this forum--lots of opinions. Two schools of thought--1: self insure, set aside the money for small to medium losses, and pray you dont have a big loss; or 2-- buy a warranty and pray the company is willing/able to pay off. Small losses usually arent challenged but you have to follow claim instructions precisely or they deny you. Large claims are a crap-shoot [IMHO]--some companies will pay but many will look for every and any excuse to make you out to be at fault for the loss [eg, you dont have reciepts to prove you maintained the engine] and they disapprove the claim--good luck.

Check out Xtra Ride, my RV service says they are one of the easiest to work with. I did have a claim with mine a month after purchase of the warranty and they paid without much question.

Hi Lynn Marie, are you sure you have a 20ll Alpine and not a 200l?? Alpine went out of business in 08 or 09.

Extended warranties; Every one has a different opinion. All of them have to many exceptions for me, Good Sam is no exception either. Others have stated; hope the co is still in business if you have a claim. What do you neeed to start a extended warranty co??? a computer, web site, a post office box an office in a spare bedroom. Give me your money today because I may want to be gone tommorow.

We have friends that had a fan belt break on their diesel pusher, this caused the engine to overheat, ruined the engine block & head. $19,000. later they were on the road again WITHOUT the help of the wearranty Co. Why?? The fan belt in a normal maintance item, therefore not covered, since that is what caused the problem, they were not compensated. See how easy it was to find the loop hole?? As for me and my coach, we will be self insured in this area. At last resort, have someone with good mechanical knowledge read the contract real close. Too many exceptions for me... old trucker

Hi all,

Just wanted to straighten out the user name mixup. My username is Lynn Marie and I own a 2004 Alpine Coach Model 36MDDS. The other Lynne Marie owns the other "Alpine". I don't know who makes Lynne's Alpine, but it isn't Western RV. Lynne Marie with the "Alpine" wants the extended warranty. I was just in the thread because I commented on our similar usernames!!! Sorry for the confusion and hopefully Lynne Marie is reading these threads.

Talking

1) Xtra Ride is the company to go with, I have had them in place for 3+ years and my shop tells me they are good to deal with. They have a few odd issues, replaced the inverter and they pair for it, but not the controls. They said the controls were not broken, but I went from Onan to Xantrex, the old would not work. Everything else I have been happy with.

2) Alpine 3640 RL is a travel trailer.
