Fluids Checklist
Fellow Alpine guys,
Here is the trip checklist I formulated a year or so ago; any comments/additions?
Fluids Checklist
1. Toad transmission fluid
2. Engine transmission fluid
3. Engine oil
4. Engine coolant
5. Generator oil
6. Generator coolant
7. Batteries water levels
8. Windshield Washer fluid level
Did I miss anything?
After Easter, we are heading to Arkansas 9from Louisiana0 with lifetime couple friends who want to experience RV'ing. Any suggestions? Campgrounds, National or State Parks, Restaurants, Attractions??
Thanks in advance,

Check out Outdoor Resorts of the Ozarks on Table Rock Lake. It is in NW Arkansas 23 miles from Branson by road and 4 by water. Ozarks Outdoor Resorts of America

New RV park on the river in Little Rock if you are going to be in that area.
North Little Rock Riverside RV Park-Home . Maumelle Park is also in the Little Rock Area.
Several Core of Engineer parks along the Arkansas River (Russelville, Ozark, and others) Many are right on the water and you can set in the shade and watch the river traffic). $9 a night for us old people.
Beaver Lake and Table Rock lake, most of Table Rock is located across the boarder in Missouri, in NW Arkansas, Lake Norfork (Mountain Home area) in North Central Arkansas. These three lakes have lot of Core of Engineer parks and most of them open April 1st.
Ozark Folk Center Center - crafts, music, bluegrass, etc, located in Mountain View Arkansas - Ozarks - Ozark Folk Center State Park - Arkansas State Parks
The Hot Springs area. The Casinos are located across the river from Helena and across the border from NW Arkansas.
There is "stuff", it just depends what you are looking for. Come on up, the weather is starting to turn and things are staring to green.

9. Wine, beer or other favorite drinks and mixes.
10. Brake booster brake fluid - so you can stop for drinks.
11. Fresh water tank flushed and filled to appropriate level. (Turn on water pump and open hot water faucet to fill water heater).
12. Periodically remove front wheel covers and verify wheel bearings have proper oil levels.
13. Occasionally check the power steering oil level with dip stick on top of black reservoir in passenger side rear of engine compartment.
14. Since its too hard to check I don't worry about the HWH hydraulic reservoir fluid level unless I have had a hose leak or other leakage problem.

I would also flush the Brake fluid if you have not done this in the last two years, and you should also check the anode rod in the water heater.

Ok, let see, fluids I carry First:
*Oil for main engine.
*Transmission Fluid for Coach the transynd type if applicable.
*Fleetguard Complete Coolant for Coach-main engine and genset.
*Distilled Water for adding water to coolant and batteries about 1 gallon.
*Various bug sprays, slide seal lube, protectall, 3in1 Light machine oil,
*HWH Hydraulic Fluid 2 quarts.
*Windex-cleans hands real good, won't leave them feeling greasy, and does glass better than anything.
*Small can of break fluid - don't keep near any clorox.
*Clorox 1 quart - To sanatize fresh water tank/system if we leave coach for 30 days or longer.
*Scott Blue Shop Towels - at least 6 rolls-spread into almost every storage area so one roll is close to hand.
*Rubber gloves - Velcroed Rubbermaid container to top of Genset and use them when filling up diesel tank so I don't smell like diesel. Also great when dumping tanks, and generally for any dirty job.
*Laquer Thinner 1 quart or less - if nothing else works, this will remove any type of glue residue, and after lubing front end/differential, this gets the old gunky grease off my hands if I forgot the rubber gloves.
Some Handy tools:
*Turkey baster to add coolant to reserviour, you won't get any large type of container back there to add it. Others have suggested different ways, but it works easy, no training or set up time to use one.
*Several needle nose "vice grip type Pliers" with shrink tubing over the jaws to protect hoses you have to crimp off so you don't loose fluid when working on various systems.
One 90 and 45 plumbing fitting, and I need to get those special pliers for the connectors we have.
I know I have forgotten something, but this will get you started. I know we have more crap than we need, but then you never know.
