Has anyone flushed and put in new antifreeze in their ISC Cummins. Is that a project one could undertake without getting into too much trouble. I have changed the coolant canister regularly, always had a hard time getting the old one off. Would appreciate any help and details on how to flush and refill the cooling system.

I have done this on my ISL was not much of a problem. The system holds 11 gallons of Antifreeze/Water mix.

I drained the system by just using the petcock at the base of the radiator. I collect the antifreexe in to several large paint buckets and took to a disposal center for chemicals. To refill the system I bought a drill operated pump at Home Depot and a cheap hose. I cut the hose with on section being about 3' long and the other about 15'. Attach the two pices of hose to the pump. Place the hose in the overflow tank at the back of the coach and the other end into a bucket. I then would poor 1 gallon of antifreeze into the bucket and 1 gallon of distilled water. Then started the pump and kept adding water and antifreeze till the system was full.

You will also have to add 3 or 4 pints of DCA to the mix *** it is pumped in, this is an additive for the Wet Sleeve engines. I think the ISC is wet sleeve. You will need to check your level of DCA. You can buy a litmus paper test kit from cummins to check the level.

The pump is sometimes called a water bed pump.
