Furnace

Well, we had a problem last night. Turned the furnace on - has been on this year once before. All working well. In the middle of the night, this horrible smell woke us up. It smell like something burning- not an electrical smell really, but strong and awful. We turned it off - and tried it again early this morning. Same resutls- within a minute we were overwhelmed by the smell. It smells to me like it could be toxic...? Anyone have something similar happen?

You may want to open up the furnace and look for a wasp nest. I found one that was built in our fan/blower and one in the burner.

Bugs or other obstruction in the combustion path (including flue) most likely per the above post. There is a wasp screen you can buy to preclude that in the future.
Could also be a cracked combustion chamber leaking semi-burned gas into the coach. That requires replacement and is obviously very dangerous.

Hopefully, you have a working smoke and carbon monoxide detector. Wouldn't hurt to test it.

How exactly do you get to the furnace? I have a 2004 unlimited and the furnace, AC and heat pump are all not working.

I believe you'll find the furnace by looking in the PS compartment right in front of the rear tires. Open the door and look up inside. The box you see is the furnace.
