Generator battery

Can anyone tell me on a 36sds, is the generator suppose to start from the house batteries or the chassis batteries?

Thanks

Generator is usually on the house batteries, but if you have a 'battery boost' switch on the dashboard you can use both.

Generator Battery

Generator starts from House Batteries on our 1999 MDSS.

In general, think WRV wired the gensets to the house bats but have seen it either way. One thought is that if you run down you house bats, your chassis bats are isolated and you can start diesel/boost over to house. Another thought is to tie genset to chassis bats so if you run down the house bats, the chassis bats will still start the genset. Opinions vary on the best approach. The key is having at least one bat bank isolated from drawdown so you can start the genset or the diesel. Of course there is the toad bat too.
