Does anyone know how you would open generator slide if you had a hydraulic pump failure? This would be very important if you were low on fuel and a failure occurred. There must be some emergency procedure. I check manuals and have not found an answer yet. Thanks

Hello Mike & Nancy:

This happened to Donna & I in 2001 six months after I purchased the Alpine. The HWH pump failed and I was lucky because the residual pressure opened the Gen Slide far enough to put in fuel.

You "may" be able to open the Gen Slide (Hydraulic) if you were to open both the retract solenoid and the extension solenoid and manually push/pull open the Gen Slide far enough to put in fuel and close the slide again and get to a service HWH center. If you have an electric Gen Slide I would not have the foggiest idea how you would open it.

Dave

One thing that is good is HWH overnighted a new pump to us when our failed. Really never checked to see if the Gen Slide would open. Also, the pump is easy to get to on our 2004 38ft.. Located just behind the front door. Found out some Coaches they are under the Coach and hard to get to. I was able to replace it myself in less than one hour.

Send a message via AIM to Louie & Linda
From the front of the coach, if you look just outside and below the right slide member, you will see a big long all-thread bolt. You can move the slide out using a wrench on this. To get it back in, screw the bolt back in and use the 'boat trailer wench' also below teh slide.
Here's hoping that no one ever has to use this method.
