I had purchased one of these RV SureStep lights that you mount on the front of your outside step about a year ago. It is made by RV Innovations. It is operated by sensors so as you get within about 20' it lights up and makes the steps much easier to locate. This almost spring I realized that the batteries went bad(another nice feature, no wiring) so I opened it up and pulled the tube out that holds the batteries and the connecting wire broke without any chance of recovering it. In two conversations with a Dan Decker he just replaced the entire unit no charge. I think that deserves recognition. I wanted to share that because we here so many bad things it is nice to come across a really nice one.

Ted & Carol,
We had one of the lights go out on our unit and we called and they sent us a new unit also. No Questions asked. Isn't it refreshing to have that kind of service? We absolutely agree with you on this.

That sounds like a nifty gadget. Did you both order that through the Internet, or is it available at Camping World or other retail stores?

Also, how does it adhere to the edge of the step (I'm assuming that's where it is attached)? Do you have to buy special batteries or does it use ordinary batteries?

Kudos to RV Innovations for backing up their product so well!

Thanks for the info!

It is a pretty fabulous gadget. Extends the step length about 1" which is nice, at least on our rig. And when creeping along in the sea of cars, vendors, and disabled beggars at the north-bound Tijuana border crossing into the good ole U. S. of A. (and trying your best not to run over any of the character-pedestrians), it acts as a perfect K-rail feeler. Mine has a teeny scrape in it from such a get-together; that woke me up
But the device took a lickin and kept performing its neat neon trick.
Oh yeah, you drill four or five small holes thru the vertical face strip of the step for some (aparently) high test bolts that are integral to the step extender. It adds a nice non-skid to the step as well. Sure is nice when coming home in the dark when I forgot to turn the porch light on.

Gail & John, To my knowledge you buy them right from RV Innovations. www.rvsurestep.com or 800-815-2159. It uses std. AAA batteries. They advertise pretty heavily, they have a 1/2 page ad on page 50 of the Mar. 07 FMCA magazine. It really is a nifty little product and obviously a nice bunch of folks to deal with.

Ted, thanks so much for this additional information. I think we will order one for our new 2007.
