Headlights

Can anyone confirm that my 2001 Alpine has the BMW 5 E39 headlights in it I need to update them. Thanks..

Yes the 2001 Alpine uses BMW headlights.

You can confirm that by getting the sae number or other part number off of the lens cover.

There appears to be several models of the E39 light available. The outer most marker lights on some E39s [like I bought from Sport-Tuning] have clear lenses and single filament bulb sockets. To get both marker and turn signals, you have to modify/change the socket and buy a two filament, amber bulb. You then have to decide what part of the light assembly you will use as/with your day-time running or marker lights [eg, halo only, 3-LEDs only, both or none]. Some owners have expressed concern that the E39 doesnt give you a true side-view marker light for vehicles our size--required in some states.....

Not all of the aftermarket E39's are DOT approved either which may cause some owners grief if/when they are inspected. For others, if it's caught after an accident, it may be considered a contributing factor in the accident. It may a reason to be denied insurance coverage. Those are just my random thoughts on the matter.
