high beam headlight question

I have a 2001 Alpine, when I turn the bright lights on the low beams go off. My brother has a 2005 Alpine and when he puts his brights on the low beams stay on. Was that a wiring change or do I have a bad relay in my 2001?

Thanks.

On my 2001 Alpine the Low Beam Headlights go off when you turn on the High Beams. I believe they all did this on the early Alpine models.

This was probably done when WRV went to the Vansco electrical systems on the 2004 and newer models.
