Has anybody tightened the slide toppers? The ones on the drivers side collect a lot of rain and sag. The passenger side ones do not.
I am afraid when they sag, they will get caught in the slide out when I retract it.

Ours doesn't get caught, but don't be below (or in the neighborhood) when it comes in because we dump LOTS of water.  Actually I bring it in a little ways and wait for the rushing water to stop, then bring in some more, wait, then finish.

Like Jim, I too would like to know how to tighten the slide topper on my 05. The manuals I have do not show how to do it and I've heard that it is a tricky job.

I am already doing it the way you suggest, but I would like to adjust the slide topper PROPERLY and have it function like it is supposed to.

I had my slide topper off, while I was fixing my front slideout leak. The only adjustment for the topper is the number of times you wind the internal spring before you mount it. You may be able to tighten the topper a bit by winding the spring, but then you risk tearing the fabric with too much tension.
WRV mounted the topper so it is level when extended. Thus water does not drain towards the outside. Instead, the slightest weight of water causes the fabric to sag, then it collects more water, then it sags more, etc. I. like you. end up with a lake on top of the cover. I see no way to remedy the situation. Poor design.
I did fix my slideout leak though. Another WRV shoddy installation.

Ken, there have been suggesations as to putting beach balls partially inflated to whatever would give you some slope from one side to the other. Other suggestions have been the pool noodles the kids play with. Anything to give it a little angle. We always bring ours in a little if it rains hard and then back out even while it is raining and have never had a problem. Maybe an inch or 2 in.

There is an easy way to dump water off a slideout. Just raise/lower the trailer nose a little and allow any water pooling to run off one end.
If you really desire to tighten the tension on toppers/awnings, download the instructions from this website.
Keep in mind, those springs really like to break wrists.

Thanks for the follow-up. I just let lake Yakima build up and dump it when the rain stops.
It's not all WRV's doing. I'm not impressed with Dometic either.
