I just did that route a few weeks ago in my 37 footer with toad. No issues at all. Coming down the mountains into Phoenix is a pain...lots of downshift. But the rest of the route is pretty.
In NM you go past the VLA (Very large Array) which is a set of radio telescopes. A bit farther on you will come to Pie Town. There is a very small rv park there (5 or 6 spaces) Basic but fills the need if you want to stop. In Pie Town stop at the Pie Town Cafe and have some...pie. They were recently featured on the Food Network for their New Mexico Apple Pie. It is apple but with pinion pine nuts and New Mexico green chilies in it. If you like spicy food...it is AMAZING. (they have other pie and rregular food as well.)
About 30 miles north over some rough county roads (not paved) is La Ventana, a stone arch. Really pretty country. Ask in town how to get there on paved roads or if you are towing a jeep. Well worth the side trip. Couple photos I took there.
