I am curious about insurance coverage for your motor home and toad. The rates for GMAC through Good Sam seems to be climbing a little too fast for me, who has never needed to make a claim. I would like to get a quote through some quality companies.
Any thoughts?

We live in Oregon and use Allstate for all of our other coverage but their rates for the RV were terrible. The best I found was Progressive through Aon - 800-521-2942. What I found interesting is when I got a quote from AAA they also used Progressive but their quote was $200 higher. That shouldn't happen as insurance rates are standardized and supposedly cannot influenced by the agent.
Anyway, Progressive had the best coverage and price.

Good luck,

try insurance sponsored by FMCA. mine was over a thousand less than GMACs renewal rate.

If you qualify try AARP. I added my rig to my car policy with The Hartford and also got the multiple vehicle discount.

Lundy, I have had a great deal of success with national Interstate. They are in Richfield, OH.
I deal with an agent here locally in New Jersey, one because they are convenient and two they were the least expensive of other brokers in the country selling the same insurance.
Brokers name:
Ed Tobin Agency
926 Haddon Ave
Collingswood, NJ 08108-0176
800 759-6321
It's worth a try. I find their coverage superb.

I ended up using Drive by Progressive which is where USAA sends all their non-standard policies. Quite a bit cheaper than the other four bids I received (Good Sam, FMCA, GMAC and Mercury my auto carrier).

Thanks for your replies. Today I did a little shopping, on line, with your suggestions. I have used the same company for about 8 years and just took for granted, that they all would be about the same. How wrong I was. I have been paying about 60% too much. What bothers me the most is that in those 8 years, I have had one windshield and a Novis window treatment, and that's it. No tickets either.

I didn't know Hartford insured MH. Do they have replacement coverage?

I also will second Ted III recommendation concerning National Interstate. We originally went with them thru AON however upon renewal we opted for an agent on the east coast closer to us here in Va Beach. Service is as good or better with this agent than thru AON.

As my coach is an older model I didn't ask for this coverage, but I did get unlimited roadside assistance and towing. This cost $40 cw GoodSams $100 package.

Hi All,

We also have National Interstate and like them, we have had them since 1994 ! We have made a claim for a new windshild, and another for damage caused by road debris, never a problem, always good fast service!

I am shopping right now for coverage for my 2004 Winnebago Adventurer 37b. I called my local State Farm guy and got a $908.67 quote for California, no accidents or tickets. Called Foremost and got a $778.00 quote with same coverage, and then National Interstate and got a $760.00 quote for same coverage. National Interstate did have a few interesting twists on their offer: Diminishing deductibles (your deductible will reduce 25% each year without claim until it gets to 0 and stays there) and purchase value for the coach (2nd owner) as long as you don't let the coverage lapse, so there isn't a depreciation in the value.

For comparison's sake the coverage I asked for was:
Liability at 100,000/300,000 bodily injury and 50,000 property damage
Medical at 5000
COMP at 500 deductible
Collision at 500 deductible
Uninsured motor vehicle bodily injury at 100,000/300,000
Uninsured motor vehicle property damage.

Progressive gets my vote. Each year, I get their bill and check around. Nobody comes close. Remember, all other things being equal, rates can vary quite a bit based on zip code.
