ISL 400 Water pump

On my trip south I noticed my engine temps rising above normal I pulled over and found the radiator low on antifreeze. I ended up pulling over several times to add water. After getting to my destination I found the water pump leaking from the weep hole.

Replacing the pump looks relatively easy. Has anyone else had an ISL pump go bad. I am at 68,000 miles.

Nope, but hope you added only distilled water--if you replace the pump, probably need to flush system and fill with new coolant anyway......

AND, the proper coolant.

Either "low silicate for diesel with added SCA (Supplemental Coolant Additive) or one of the new-generation OAT-based coolants.

The two are NOT compatible, so be sure to flush (including dash heater core) and go back with an acceptable one.

It sounds like you might be doing this yourself, if so please keep us posted on how it goes. I'm just curious and I figure if I know how to do it I'll never have to.

FWIW, I changed my alternator and it was a piece of cake. Some of the things back there look a lot harder than they are.
