Not the same as the fan discussion currently going on.
I have the Kenwood DVR 6300. I noticed soon after I got the coach in April that when the overhead compartment got very warm, the sound would cut out. Installed a 110v Radio Shack fan directed at the back of the unit. Seemed like there was no more problem.
This evening, the sound would decrease almost to nothing and then a few minutes later (after I ran the volume up to MAX) would come back on again. Didn't seem to be affected by the fan at all.
Has anyone else had issues with the Kenwood? Would appreciate learning if there is something that can be fixed before I trash it and get a new one.

Hi dshogman, my suggestion is to replace it. We hassled for 3 months with an authorized repair center before they finally told us that unit is no longer supported by Kenwood and nobody had the parts to fix it. Good Luck

My Kenwood fried when WRV tried to install a DVD recorder for me in the overhead cabinet nearby. They replaced it with the Sony unit installed in Apexes at the time (last August). It has worked fine with no problems. You might look into that replacement.

I checked on the coach today in its storage location and foudn the model numbers on the Sony DVD Home Theatre, is that it's called exactly that -- a Sony DVD Home Theatre, model # DAV DX-150.

For what it's worth, that's what WRV replaced my Kenwood with, and it works well, other than the fact the controls are on the top of the faceplate which sometimes requires me to stand on the driver's seat to see what each button says (because I am short). But the remote control for it works seems to to work reasonably well. At least it stays in place, doesn't smoke, smell, or fail to work for me.

Thanks for the info on the Sony. Got the same info from Tom Gonser (Rversonline). The newer version of the same unit is DAV DX-155. From the specs couldn't see ahy difference. Amazon carries them.
