Has anyone installed after market power locks on their coach? I know that PTL the manufacture of our door makes the mechanical actuator for our door but does not have any of the electrical equipment to go with it. Does anyone have a website that may be of help?

Thanks Larry

Larry,

Indio, a frequent poster on the IRV2 Alpine Coach forum and a member of the Alpine Socal group, has installed a keyless entry keyfob system on his Alpine Coach. He has it tied into his alarm system, and the lights so that they flash to confirm that the door is locked.

Talk to him nicely, and I am sure he will share his experiences with you!! He did tell me that it was one of the most complicated projects he has attempted. I saw the finished job, and he did an excellent job.

He might be traveling, so I am not sure how soon he might see your post.

I installed remote door lock on my mid door, connected the awning light to confirm lock and unlock. I can tell you it was a bit of a challenge. If you're mechanical, you can do it. I don't have a drawing available to send you. I will be happy to send a wiring drawing if you can send me the alarm system wiring diagram you are using. The project requires installing door contacts on the door jamb, contacts are available from any car alarm company. I do recommend you purchase the lock actuator from PTL, it bolts right on and work without a lot of linkage futzing.

Let me know your wishes and we can hook up on the phone to talk about the installation.
Nick
