KVH TracVision R4/R5

My 1998 Alpine has a roof mounted KVH satellite dome that was cracked the first time I had the coach washed. It is patched with peel and stick vinyl tape and doesn't appear to be leaking.

KVH no longer sells new domes for this older sat system and suggested that I find a used one. I've had no luck finding one.

Any suggestions for a more permanent repair of the very brittle dome; or where I might find a replacement?

I've never watched TV in the coach so I could just remove the system but I keep thinking if we spend more time on the road we may want to watch more tv. Or it may be attractive to a buyer if we decide to sell the coach some day.
Thanks

satellite

I removed mine and tossed it in the dumpster. It has little or no value. We do watch TV and use a portable Winegard Pathway X2 .

I likely have the same dome. It no longer works for Dish since they reformatted their system. I'm told it will work for Direct TV. Haven't decided yet whether to replace it with an up to date version or get a portable. Whatever I do, I plan to spend as little as possible since this technology is constantly changing.

If you decide to toss the system I would be interested in buying the plastic dome if we can determine that it will fit on my base.

My dome is different than the newer ones that are currently for sale.

I replaced my KVH system purchased in 2/2002 and it may be the same dome you are looking for. Bunkhouse RV in Red Bay, AL, Bennie, did the work in early June and probably have my old system as I don't think they throw anything in the dumpster.
