We are getting ready to replace the carpet in the main area and the dinning slide. We are using a new product called Allure Ultra it is a click and lock like laminate but it is 100% waterproof and looks like the laminate in our house.

goldwingerx2:

The manufacturer of Allure (Hallstead) does not recommend the Ultra to be installed in RVs.

"allure is not recommended for non-temperature
controlled homes, seasonal porches, or outdoor
applications."

Failures are apparently caused at both temperature extremes.

All I can tell you , is we wanted to put vinyl to replace our carpet and we were told that it would just get scrathed by the slides. Now we decided to trade in for a new one, and we got one with the vinyl(fake wood) -- So I guess if you have slides it would not work , You night just want to check with the manufacturer.. Good Luck

Cajun:

Au contraire mon ami. Someone has led you astray. Wood and vinyl floors are commonly installed as replacements to carpeting. If the slides would scratch and ruin the new flooring, it would certainly fray the carpet. Of course the slide needs to be properly adjusted.

I recently saw a Discovery that converted to wood flooring and by (poor) design was damaging the original carpet. The installer merely added some rollers to carry the overweighted slide into position.

We took up carpet in all except bedroom and driver's area and replaceD it with laminate and have had no problems..it is a floating floor and very easy to keep. WE HAVE SLIDES AND NO PROBLEM WITH THEM COMING IN OVER THE LAMINATE.

We have tile throughout the coach except for the bedroom. Due to an ongoing problem with loose & cracked tiles and to reduce coach weight, I am considering replacing the tile & bedroom carpet with a good quality laminate flooring.

I have not pulled up the quarter round moldings to check, but it appears that some of the interior walls are installed over the tile, not directly attached to the subfloor. Anybody know this to be a fact? If so, I guess one could cut the tile at the wall with a grinding wheel.

Any other DIY advice?
