An artical in USNews claims plasma tv's use 3 times the power and LCD 75% MORE power than the old picture tube type. (Just for those who need the boob tube while dry camping).

I would agree the 32" LCD I have uses more battery than my old 20"

Yes, I guess that fluorescent lamp uses up more power than one would expect. Wait for the LED panels.

They also run around 100 degrees, so in the winter they help heat the coat, almost as much as the dog!

If it really is a concern turn the TV off.

I also heard that LCD TV's use about 8x the power of a tube TV that might be another problem with my battery's.Has anyone heard this?
