Leak Near Door

Alright, I’m perplexed at this point. I have an area on the front pillar showing water damage. Every time it rains, the carpet on the front entry gets wet. So far I have:

-Resealed the entire roof with Dicor self-leveling sealant
-Coated the roof with Dicor fiberglass roof coating
-Resealed windshield with 3M urethane windshield sealant (that was fun)
-Sealed roof joints near the front and the joint that joins the front cap to the body with high quality, flexible silicone sealant
-Sealed around the outer edge of the water diversion ledge around the door

Today I have attempted, to the best of my ability, to seal around the inside of the diversion ledge and where the door frame is bolted in.

It’s not supposed to rain tonight. The silicone I’m using has a 24 hour full cure time. I plan to hit it with the hose tomorrow as an optest.

If that doesn’t work, I’m all out of ideas. Anyone had this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Have you checked around the marker lights? The water could be running in along the frame toward the door area.

Have you tried to trace the water back from the carpet?

Where is the carpet, on the steps or between the front seats. That area (between the seats) in our 2005 is tile, so I am not sure where you are talking about. And in the step area we had a rubber stair tread with carpeting on the sides.

If it is cold outside and we cook pasta without the kitchen fan on, I will get condensation collecting on the inside of the windshield and even get drips on the dashboard.

Dr. Dave, I’ll definitely check the marker lights on the front roof area.

The carpet I’m mentioning is to the right as you walk in the door. I’ll snap a picture tomorrow.

I have tried to trace it, but the water appears to drip onto that area. That’s why I have resealed the windshield. I’m going to drop a bead of self-leveling lap sealant along the front end of the cap, although I don’t think that’s where it’s coming from.

I’ll get some pictures uploaded tomorrow. It definitely isn’t coming from internal; I’m running the ACs and a dehumidifier.

As always, thanks for the reply and a new place to look [emoji57]

You know the dash A/C unit is above there, I wonder if the leak is from the condensate? Mine drips on the passenger side of the generator, could the condensate drain be plugged causing the condensate to back up in the duct and overflow on to the carpet? Try leaving the dash air off, although I suspect you have the roof air on, not dash. Is the coach level?

Dr. Dave, my dash AC hasn’t worked since the day I bought it.

The leak is present whether the coach is level or not. Right now it’s not on jacks, so it is leaning forward a little bit.

I had that issue about 4 years ago. Every time it rained I would find the carpet wall in the step well was wet. Sealing the front vertical rail edge of the door with silicone did the trick and it hasn't leaked since.

Did you seal inside or outside? I have sealed both sides of the channel outside. Inside seems like it would be virtually impossible to get to. Not too mention, sealing in between the small gap on the inside of the edge required lots of patience. It doesn’t look the absolute best, but as long as it stops the leak is what matters.

I sealed the the outside front edge from the bottom of the window down. I also sealed the drip rail over the door. I don't know for certain which one did the trick. All I know is that it hasn't leaked since, and that's over 4 yrs ago.
