I have worked on both and the quality of the Costco is just fine. The quality to cost ratio upgrading to the Little Giant just is not there. It is only marginally better but can cost up to 5 times what you pay for the Cosco. If it were 5 times higher in quality but only cost marginally more then it would be worth it however that is not the case.

I steer away from just an extension ladder as I have seen a good number of roof edges and slide toppers damaged from leaning extension ladders against them. A sturdy industrial A frame ladder such as the Cocso or Werner that allows 300 lbs on each side at the same time is what works best for me. When you need a helper it is nice to have a ladder that will by design support both of you safely.

From Feb. 9, 2009 thru March 1, 2009 This Little Giant 17" Megalite Type 1A Ladder also has a $30 off coupon, bringing the price down to $170 at Costco

But make sure you guys save one for me!

I just bought the scafold for the Little Giant at Costco. The display had the 17'and 21' origional Little Giant. I saw the lighter model at the Baltimore Boat Show. It looks to be weaker that the origional. I've had the 21 for about 6 years and love it.

I have the standard 21' and the lighter 17' for the MH. Both I believe are rated for 300lbs. I would never have any other ladder for around the house or MH. The tapered legs are the safest way, and the variety of positions is a major plus. Best ladder made, now they are a little heavy, but safety first. More people are hurt on ladders I believe than any other device. LG's are one of the safest if not the safest ladders made.

I still have the Cosco and use it for the MH and on construction sites. A lot of guys like the Cosco/Werner better than the Little Giant because of the thicker steps. The price being 1/2 to 1/4 that of the Little Giant helps also. Even with two 250+ Lb construction workers on it the Cosco/Werner is perfectly stable.

Hi Ho: I'm having trouble following this thread. What's wrong with the built in ladder on the coach? We have a little 4-foot aluminum ladder that we carry in one of the basement compartments (on top of whatever else is there). I sometimes use it for the windshield or to reach the top of the coach. It must weigh all of 6 or 7 lbs. Works great and is a snap to get out and put away. Why would we want anything bigger?

We have also had the Little Giant, but was finally successful in giving it to one of the kids. Too much trouble. We do have five other latters here at home, so we can get on top of a full two-story building if necessary. Not with the Little Giant.

This is an Alpine Coach forum and most of our motor homes did not come with built on ladders.
