Does anyone know if or where I might locate wires for installing a brake controller?

Are they terminated in a connector for any particular brand of controller?

I figure they're somewhere under the dash on the driver's side, but thought I'd ask before I tackled it.

Thank you.

WRV has always built in redundancy in the main harness. If you look where your main wiring harness terminates (behind a panel in the front of the coach) I would bet there are spares.
My 2000 has two spares and I believe they are labeled SP1 and SP2. If you can not locate them try calling Max Z. at WRV's service facility in Yakima. Give Max a day or two to call you back because he is a busy guy.

Hi Cedar!

Surely you jest?

Jest in case, here's 2 answers:

jest -- a smoke detector mounted in the wheel wells. Maybe not a bad idea after your experience.

surely -- a device which controls brakes on a towed vehicle (e.g. trailer)

Here are my two cents--several folks have stated there are spare wires but short of finding someone at WRV to tell you exactly where they terminate, it was overwhelming for me to look on both ends of the harness to find "SP1 and 2". So I just ran a wire back thru the basement--its a bit difficult to find entry and exits to/from the basement but it can be done for one wire--ie, back corner of the propane tank area for entry and beside the rear bedroom heat vent for the rear exit...

Remember that you must also tap into the brake-light on/off switch cable located below the driver's seat area and inside the wheel well. My 03 40ft allowed me to run these wires down/inside the steering column and thru the floor by the brake pedal.....good luck....dean
