Our 05 coach is in the shop torn apart for radiator replacement. The extended warranty people do not want to use radiator specialties for the radiator as they want $5000.00 for the new replacement.

Does anyone have a source for a good replacement radiator that is readily available. I don't want to wait a month to have someone build the radiator.

Is the Alpine rad. made out of alum. or copper?

If so, why couldn't a "good" shop just remove the tanks, boil them out and replace the core, then pressure test the assembly?

There are some shops here in SoCal that I am sure could handle this but you should have the same in NorCal.

It should only take a few days to do this. Even a complete custom job only takes 7-10 business days. Just ask any top fuel/funny car racer.

I'll root around and see what I can find out.

Can you post some pics of the front, back, top, bottom and sides with approx. dimensions? It could help.

I realize that Alpine built their own chassis but I would bet that they used someone elses radiator.

Now that I think of it, the radiator should be designed for your particular engine and the chassis adapted to fit so maybe there is a clue how to get one made more affordably.

The radiator in the 05 is aluminum and is not repairable. $5000 seems ridiculously high. Max radiator in Portland, Oregon can make you a copper replacement. http://www.macsradiator.com/ .
You might also check with Burke Morgan in Yakima WA I understand he bought some radiators at the WRV auction.
Also do a search on radiators on this forum several Alpiner’s have replaced or repaired their radiators at various places across the country.

I just replaced mine from the WRV stock that was purchased through Burk Morgan who has the contact.
My Warranty Company paid for it but much less than $5,000, probably under $2,500.00.

Burk's # is 509-457-4133

These are the up dated radiators that require 4 bushings. Check the thread re: radiator bushings for more info.

We had a new radiator put in oou 05 in July. We decided to use a Mac Radiator out of Portland. All they need is the dimensions. The extended warranty paid for the cost of putting in an alum one we paid the difference. About $1000.00. It did not take a month. I think that Carson Truck and Auto in Carson City NV had the new radiator in about a week. Hope that helps
