We have the Sharp 1870 in our M/H. We are having a problem where it will not cook for over 1 minute no matter what setting / microwave or convection. You can put 20 minutes in and it will shut-off after 1 minute. Has anyone experienced this problem and if so was there a fix?

Yes, we had that problem. If I remember correctly the the cycle stopped after 59 seconds. The problem was NOT the board (which was the first try by the repair man). Unfortunately I do not remember the technical name of the part but there is a switch and motor which control some flap that effects the air circulation. The problem can be either the switch or the motor, both were ordered and replaced on on microwave.

Hope that helps,

Ted,

Check this post. I had the same problem. Took the oven to a sharp repair center and the cost was around $40.00. Beats buying a new one.

We had the Sharp and replaced it with an Advantium. We hate the Advantium compared to the Sharp. The over heat heating element in the Advantium more often burns the top of things before its done. The Sharp blows convective air in from the side and cooks much better. You can brown things better with the Advantium but too often you want even cooking more than the direct heat from above.
I am hopeful that it will die an early death and that I can still find a replacement Sharp!

We had a Sharp in our Alpenlite but when we got the Alpine, it had an Advantium. We replaced the Advantium with a Sharp 1870. The Advantium was a pain because you couldn't turn the turntable off and therefore couldn't put a 9" X 13" pan in there. Also, The Advantium didn't have the capability of broiling. Probably a matter of which one prefers but we like the Sharp much better
