We got a Cobra 18WX for Christmas. Where is the best place to mount it. Our Owners Man. says the wiring is under the dash. We have a 38' 2004.

Hello Cedar:

There are not many places to mount things on or under the Dash of an Alpine. I mounted a VMS 200 under the Dash and it is bigger than the CB Radio. You can also explore the idea of placing it on the cover over the steering column, or on the wall of the Coach, or even on the bottom of the overhead cabinets. I found the wiring and Coax cable under the dash which made it easy to install. I hope this helps with some ideas. I purchased a 75WX Cobra CB Radio and since the controls are in the Mike it was easy to hide the rest behind the dash.

Have a Happy New Year

Dave

Hi Cedar,

I could find no other place to mount the cb radio except behind the console on the left of the driver's seat(transmission controls, etc. The antenna cable is not long enough but I got an extension at Radio Shack. This position is a little convenient because you have to operate the controls by the brail method rather than take your eyes off the road. One of those cb's with the controls on the microphone would solve that.

Traveling circus,
Basil

I put my CB radio on the right of the driver's seat. It's mounted vertically on the wall under the backup monitor, to the right of the gas pedal.
